Manatee Adult Baseball Training Games

 -

After New Years and before the start of our regular season, and after public schools are out for the Summer and before public schools start again in the Fall, we play TRAINING GAMES.

Training games are a great way for existing players to work on specific skills or new positions, and for new players to get to know some of our players, to get to know our perspective and to experience the league before registering.

For Training Games, we ask that players send us an e-mail each week indicating whether they will play the following Wednesday. If we get enough e-mail indicating that there will be enough players that week, we send out an e-mail stating that, weather permitting, we will have a training game that week.

If we do not receive enough e-mails indicating that we will have enough players that week, then we do not play that week and try again the next week.

If we play that week, we start batting practice at approximately 6:15 at Roster Lakewood Ranch High School in Manatee County near I-75 (1 and 1/2 miles east on SR 70 ( 4 lights) then left (north) on Lakewood Ranch Blvd. 1 mile north of SR 70.) Registered players and returning non-registered players who already have signed a Release, check in and pay their game fees. Game fees typically are $5 for registered players and $8 for non-registered players. If we do not have an umpire, then the game fees MAY be reduced. Typically, players who sent us e-mails saying that they are playing that week receive a discount in their game fees. First time players check in, sign a release and pay their game fees. The player then take batting practice.

During batting practice, we assign players to one team or the other, just for that game. Once we have 24 players for that day, we do not accept any more players for that day. Priority is given to registered players, and then essentially "first come - first served" for other players wit priority given to those non-registered players who have sent us and e-mail indicating that they will play that week. Any player who is not assigned to a team is refunded their game fees.

For game assignments, we typically determine the number of players who want to pitch, assign them to teams, and then divide up the number of innings by the number of pitchers. To save time, we usually play 6 out, and clear the bases after 3 outs.

If we do not have enough palyes for two teams of at least 7 players each, then we may divide up into three squads with two squads on defense, and one squad at bat.

If you have not played in our league before, we suggest that you send us an e-mail saying that you will play that week, then come to the field with you game fees and ready to play. The League has has batting helmets and wood bats to loan (at the risk of the user).

Don't forget! Check the outgoing message on (941) 400-9041 before leaving for the field to check for a rain-out. We try to update the message at approximately 5:30 p.m. on game days.

SEE YOU AT THE FIELD!
